The DNA paternity test results database is a repository of genetic information collected from DNA test samples. The establishment and management of this database serves many important purposes and the data is collected voluntarily by test participants, the purposes include:

  • Identification: DNA comparison identifies victims or individuals involved in disappearances, natural disasters, or other special events.
  • Determine blood relationships: Help individuals find lost relatives, determine family origins and build family trees

What type of specimen can be used for the most accurate DNA testing?

All samples such as hair roots, fingernails, toenails, saliva, cheek mucosa, umbilical cord, blood… all give the same test results, the accuracy of the test is also the same, you can collect whichever sample is convenient for you.

I live in the US, I am looking for my lost brother in Vietnam, how can I do a DNA test?

There are 2 forms of DNA testing to determine bloodline:

  • You conduct your own DNA test in the US and send the results to Vietnam. Loci Institute’s lab will conduct the test. The remaining siblings in Vietnam can be completely compared to each other for DNA analysis.
  • If you want, you can send convenient samples such as: 4-5 hairs with roots, 2 swabs of cheek mucosa, fingernails, toenails (Loci Institute sample collection instructions) and send them to Labo Loci for testing.
If I send my DNA data to the Loci Institute DNA Bank, when someone matches the DNA, will the Loci Institute notify both parties or in what form?

The DNA Data Bank is personal confidential information, individuals sign a commitment to voluntarily provide it and it is 100% free. When the system reports a DNA match, the Loci Institute will notify each party separately. If they agree, there will be a direct exchange to verify the identification of relatives.

How long does it take to get DNA test results?
