Instructions for collecting oral mucosa samples for DNA testing

Collecting samples for DNA testing is very simple, with LOCI’s latest technology, you do not have to be too strict about sample collection. You can choose the following samples that are most suitable for you to bring to LOCI for testing.

Does the accuracy vary between different samples?

Blood samples, fingernails, hair roots or any other test sample will only give one result.
Sample collection does not require fasting or taking any medications.

A. Common samples for DNA testing

a.Blood sample

For blood sampling, you can take it at home or go to a medical facility.

Step 1:

  • Prepare a clean sample envelope, clearly write your name or symbols on the envelope.

  • Prepare a clean cotton swab, do not touch the tip of the cotton swab as it will absorb blood.

Step 2:

  • Use a blood collection device to collect 1-2 drops of blood, soak it in a cotton swab, let it dry naturally for 5 minutes, then put it in an envelope with the name of the person needing the DNA test written on it, seal it and sign and seal the envelope.

  • For each person you test, repeat the above steps, taking care to avoid confusing the samples.

  • Put all sample envelopes in a large envelope, clearly write your full name and bring it to LOCI for testing. Or if you live far away, you can send it by post to LOCI Institute. Remember to write your phone number on the envelope. When we receive the sample, we will notify you and proceed with the testing.
